6th Grade Math: It's About Relationships!
The COMPLETE math course for grade 6 homeschool or independent learning
Using problem-based learning and student inquiry, this homeschool math course has it all! Even a video course can involve engaging activities, student-led discovery, and some hands-on manipulation with materials from around the home. This course is comprehensive, cohesive, and teaches students how to reason and think through problems, rather than 100% rote memorization.
Even better, it is aligned to the requirements of pre-AP programs and starts the path for being able to complete Algebra 1 at the 8th grade level!
To be successful in this course, I recommend that students have a pretty good background in understanding place value, as well as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing multi-digit numbers using the standard algorithm. Students should also have a decent understanding of what fractions represent and how to add and subtract them. There will be some review in this course, but not much time will be spent going back over those skills.
